482 Visa Tax Calculator Australia

Estimate 482 visa take-home pay in Australia using resident or foreign resident tax settings, with a clear warning that visa type alone does not decide tax residency.

Enter your gross pay, choose how often that number is paid, then check the after-tax result in weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annual view.

Advanced options(salary sacrifice, novated lease, partner income, MLS, Div 293)Open this if your payslip has packaging, deductions, HELP debt or household Medicare settings.

Division 293 and Medicare levy surcharge are shown as annual tax-time estimates. They are not removed from regular take-home pay because payroll usually does not withhold them as ordinary fortnightly tax.

Next frontier

Centrelink, child support assessments and support-service eligibility use detailed rules beyond a salary calculator. This page now gives the wage, tax and household-cashflow side of the picture, and the support-payment scenario tool should build on these inputs next.

How to use this page

A 482 visa does not automatically tell you which tax rate applies. This page helps you test the take-home pay under the supported residency settings while you check your tax residency properly.

Start by checking which residency setting fits your situation. The calculator supports Australian resident and foreign resident tax views, and you can switch between them to compare the cash impact.

Frequently asked questions

Does a 482 visa automatically mean foreign resident tax rates?

No. Tax residency depends on ATO residency rules, not the visa label alone. This page is for planning only and should be checked against official ATO guidance.

Why does the calculator let me switch between resident and foreign resident?

Because two people on temporary visas can still have different tax residency outcomes. The switch helps you compare the effect safely instead of assuming one answer fits everyone.
